A nationwide study by the Hartford Institute for Religion Research found that 26 percent of regular churchgoers now participate in online worship. Among these participants, 19 percent regularly mix both online and in-person attendance, while four percent rely exclusively on the Internet to attend services.
The vast majority of the 24,000 Christians in this Hartford study (EPIC Attender Survey, 2025) view the Internet as either a supplement or a complete replacement for in-person church. These numbers depict a steady increase beyond this multiyear analysis.

The Pew Research Center notes that roughly 27 percent of Americans participate in online or televised worship in a given month (Pew, 2022-2023).
