WHAT KINDS OF LEADERS HAVE WE BEEN MEANWHILE SERVING?

Christians who aspire to become able ministers of the Word present themselves as ready to share all things in common (Acts 4:32-37). In that Christ became poor for our sake (2 Corinthians 8:9) and as He instructed a rich man to sell all his possessions to follow Him (Matthew 19:21), there remains thus a stark warning against ordaining men too hastily (1 Timothy 5:22). Unfit and avaricious incumbents in chanceries end up denying Christians the chance to cultivate their true callings in sanctuaries.
“Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceive and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).

Sometimes, officers of Abraham’s Seed indeed deprive good people of the proper training, catechizing, and/or benedictions needed to serve the Church. As the innkeepers had made no room for the Holy Family in Luke 2:7, Christ told the “seedsmen” who were plotting to kill Him that the Word of God “hath no place” in their hearts (John 8:37). His antidote for the evil that flows through hearts everywhere is this:

“Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

Those overlords, who cannot recognize Christ in others, give their time instead toward yoking themselves with other ungodly, wealthy, connected, and powerful individuals, secular slothards like their religious selves, who demoralize the needy, discouraging the postulants who have the authentic callings to serve. Psalm 73 holds that they clothe themselves in arrogance, pride, and violence, with a material abundance that breeds a sense of untouchability. They contemptibly mock and boast about their exploits, while speaking with malice and loftily threatening oppression.
James 5:1-6 sharply condemns rich oppressors, by warning the wealthy whose unjustly withheld wages and hoarded luxuries stand as a witness of exploitation against the poor, who are henceforth defrauded and unpaid. However, the cries of the cheated harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord.
Amos 2:6-7 condemns the socio-economic trampling of the vulnerable as it explicitly describes the wealthy, who sell out the impoverished for trivial gain—selling the innocent for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals, trampling the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and denying justice to the oppressed.
Proverbs 22:16 and 22:22 warn that those who abuse and exploit the vulnerable because they lack legal or financial power, to increase their own wealth, will come to ruin.
Isaiah 10:1-2 denounces the lawmakers and corrupt elites who write legislation that legally robs the poor and vulnerable of their rights, making them easy prey.
Ephesians 6:12 – For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Romans 8:38-39 – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Corinthians 2:6-8 – Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1 Corinthians 8:5-6 – For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Colossians 1:16 – For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Ephesians 1:20-21 – Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
1 Peter 3:21-22 – The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
Let us resist all corrupt leaders and turn to one another for promotion, because, for us and for our House, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
